Diane Arbus – Revelations, the accompanying book authorised by her estate (aka, her very protective daughter, Doon), to the 2005 SFMoMA travelling retrospective of her work. She was into taking pics of peeps in I have a copy of her retrospective, Revelations, put together by her daughter, Doon Arbus. Diane Arbus was a well-to-do, Jewish American photographer. The Diane Arbus exhibition “Revelations,” currently (2004) showing at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, is not difficult to attend. Also for SFMoMA, Sussman organized, with Sandra Phillips, Diane Arbus: Revelation, a retrospective of the work of Diane Arbus. The experience of viewing a photograph by Diane Arbus is one not readily forgotten. Diane Arbus: Revelations is one of the most lovingly designed monographs I've seen. Between 2003-06, Arbus and her work were the subjects of another major traveling exhibition, Diane Arbus Revelations. In his assessment of the retrospective of her works, “Diane Arbus Revelations,” Schjeldahl weaves in his own reactions to the evolution of the photographer's career and her distinct collection of works. So, without further ado, let me share some of her photographs - the images I've been studying, and some beautiful quotes from the book Diane Arbus: Revelations, which my beloved Dad bought for me a number of years ago. Its reproductions are uniformly excellent and faithfully reproduce the warm tones of the original Portriga Rapid prints. It would be impossible to display a bigger and more comprehensive Diane Arbus retrospective than 2005's Revelations at the V&A – thankfully Timothy Taylor Gallery hasn't tried to.
